Rush SAE
What is SAE?
Our Mission:
The Mission of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Foundation is to support our members and their chapters to help fulfill their educational aspirations and goals; to promote programs teaching leadership, scholarship, and personal development; and to embody the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in “The True Gentleman.”
Our Purpose:
SAE enforces a structured pledge program for our new members. This eight-week program focuses on developing new members into “True Gentlemen”. Members learn of the fraternity’s national and local history, as well as partake in a number of social, bonding, and philanthropy events. Most importantly, our program does not include hazing in any form or manner.
Our Creed:
“The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe.”

Why Join SAE?
Networking – There have been over 280,000 Brothers initiated into the bonds of Sigma Alpha Epsilon since our founding in 1856, the most of any social fraternity. SAE has the largest alumni base of any other national fraternity with more than 190,000 living alumni. This means that you have a built-in network to help you attain a job after college or an internship in college. There are over 175 Alumni Associations across the country, which can be a tremendous resource to you in the years to come.
Leadership – SAE develops men of character and prepares our Brothers to become leaders in the chapter, on campus, and in the community. Each year we strive to send delegates from the chapter to attend SAE’s National Leadership School and return as more effective and influential members of our chapter. We provide leadership opportunities for all members within the chapter, and can assist you in attaining other positions on-campus.
Involvement – Our chapter promotes campus involvement and our Brothers are involved in a wide variety of clubs and organizations on-campus. In fact, many hold leadership positions within their respective organizations. If there is an activity or club that interests you, there is likely a brother that shares your same interest.
Friendship – Fraternity means brotherhood. This is the core of what fraternity is all about, and SAE’s highest priority. We are a close group of friends that can depend on one another, and we are looking for more gentlemen that share our ideals to join our brotherhood. SAE solidifies bonds and establishes friendships that truly last a lifetime.
